The Salzwasser Union is a German organisation for the promotion of the sea kayaking; an association of Paddlers, who prefer coastal waters.
These pages, in English, are published to give native English speakers and paddlers who have English as their second language, a chance to learn something of the German sea kayaking scene.
Initially, it is our aim to inform visitors of our activities and of our coaching scheme so that we are able to offer training and trips on both the North Sea and the Baltic coasts to English speaking sea kayakers. You will learn, in these pages, of the minimum requirements to participate in our courses and the minimum qualification, experience, and equipment required to be able to paddle with us, at our officially recognised events. We should like to point out that we absolve any responsibility in respect of injury, death, or loss due to the activities of the Salzwasser Union in which non-members wish to voluntarily participate.
We appreciate that there could be language difficulties, but nevertheless we hope to offer courses and trips whereby the leader or trainer is conversant with the English language. To do otherwise could lead to misunderstanding on the water and this is inherently dangerous and best avoided. It is on these grounds that although we welcome paddlers to our events, the need to communicate to ensure safety within a group is essential. In the last resort, the tour leader of trainer has the final word.
Notwithstanding, we welcome sea kayakers around the world to take a look at our internet presence, in English, and to offer comment on our activities. It is not possible, nor desirable to translate all the German pages into English but we do hope that the selection of pages we have on offer will give the visitor a glimpse as to who we are, and what moves us. We do hope in due course to offer more pages in English.
